No. All pitch detection is done in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your audio data is never sent to our servers.
Make sure your microphone is allowed in browser permissions. The ball falls slowly when silence is detected and only locks to a pitch once your voice is clear. Try singing louder and closer to your device, or use headphones to avoid feedback from your speakers.
Any octave works. The pitch detector automatically folds your voice into the correct octave range, so bass, tenor, and soprano voices are all detected equally well.
The Pitch Challenge tests your vocal output. Can you produce the right pitch with your voice? The ear training tests measure your listening skills. Can you hear and identify pitches? Both work together: good musicians need both.
